For the third consecutive year, over the month of November, Flight Club will be bringing you “30 Turkeys in 30 days.” Each day, we will post a review of a different Wild Turkey product. Throughout that journey, we will provide you with background information on the company, the products and the people behind the products, all of which we hope create a better understanding of what Wild Turkey brings to the world of bourbon. A table of contents for each of these posts can be found here.
Chapter 16, Part 2:
We continue our Chapter 16 look at Wild Turkey’s Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbons.
Today, we bring you a later “Twix” release from Toddy’s Liquor’s called “Twix V,” which was the final release of “Twix” released in December 2018.
Nose: Funk; berry medley; plum; paprika; mustard seed; beef jerky. (3.5/5)
Palate: Cinnamon; deep red berry; beef broth/brisket; sulfur; mineral; cherry cough syrup. (3.5/5)
Finish: Dark black cherry; cherry cough syrup; ink; fruit leather; Captain Crunch cereal. (3.5/5)
Overall: This barrel is a bit unusual and caused us to reach deep to find appropriate tasting notes. We found the overall experience to be very interesting and pleasing overall, but one you want to study as you drink it. (3.5/5)
Value: This is another bottle that comes in around $70. It is a good value and would be an interesting one to add even if you already have quite a collection of Russell’s Reserve setting around. (3.5/5)
