Flight Club’s 2018 Charity – Alzheimer’s Association
Flight Club has selected to the Alzheimer’s Association as it 2018 charity.
Today, more than 5.5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. The number of people impacted by this disease is growing dramatically and its impact (cognitive, emotional, and financial) is staggering.
Dr. Stephen Benson, an original Flight Club member, has been a long-time advocate for older adult mental health and Alzheimer’s research. He serves on the board for the local Alzheimer’s chapter. Dr. Benson’s dedication to this cause, and the alarming growth and impact of the disease, make Flight Club’s selection of the Alzheimer’s Association for 2018 an obvious choice.
It is with great pleasure that Flight Club has selected the Central and Western Kansas chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association as our 2018 charity.
In early-March 2018, the local Alzheimer’s Association chapter held its inaugural charity gala. This promised to be a time when we could gather as a community, have a nice time and raise some funds to help those in need. We also knew there would be an open bar. This was the time for Flight Club to truly make an impact. We are proud of the fact that all members of Flight Club contributed to this event. This was done through individual bottle donations, attendance at the event, personal financial donations, and even purchases of live auction items. When the evening drew to a close, after the dining, drinking, and dancing, our local Alzheimer’s Association chapter had raised nearly $400,000 to not only help those in Wichita but to help individuals in the 68 counties served by the chapter throughout the state.
2018 Alzheimer's Memory Gala
In the spring of 2018, Flight Club approved a new charitable giving program, where the Club will annually select a charitable cause and develop fundraising opportunities that encourage both member and public giving to the chosen charity.
