Buffalo Trace is located in Frankfort, Kentucky.  It is owned by Sazerac.  It produces various bourbons, rye whiskeys and even vodka.

Buffalo Trace produces no less than four unique recipes: a low-rye mash bill, a high-rye mash bill, a wheated mash bill and two rye mash bills.  It has also produced numerous “one-off” mash bills, including 2017’s award winning Four Grain Bourbon.

Using these recipes, Buffalo Trace produces products ranging from bottom shelf to top shelf, with often the only difference between the two being where in the warehouse (and which warehouse) the whiskey barrel was stored.  As an example, Buffalo Trace produces the Weller lineup, along with the Van Winkle products, all from the same recipe and process.
